There’s a great new trend accompanying some software product launches these days – the product intro video. The latest of these features Rushmore star Jason Schwartzman, and was directed by Roman Coppola for the New Yorker’s new iPad app.  Here’s the video:

While this is probably the most high profile product intro video, the most prolific producer is Adam Lisagor, whose approachable, deadpan style has graced some high-end introductions for mobile payment processor Square, iPad news aggregator Flipboard, and even the newly published book Being Geek.

Product introduction videos (especially engaging, creative ones) are a great way to pique interest in a product or service that might otherwise be boring (financial services?) or difficult to explain with words (something like Flipboard, whose awesomeness you really have to *see* to understand), or something behind a pay wall, like the New Yorker magazine.  At Rewatchable, we believe that putting video front and center on your website is the best way to capture eyeballs and attention completely for a brief period of time, and the success of these product intro videos only serves to reinforce that notion.
