Vimeo is growing quickly. According to a recent interview with Vimeo General Manager Dae Mellencamp and Beet.tv, Vimeo has increased unique users from 15 million users per month in December 2009 to 32 million in June 2010. Mellencamp credits the success of the video sharing site service to “viral, organic growth” by the audience and the lack of in-video advertising.

She also goes on to say they are focused on non-commercial video content.  She says Vimeo doesn’t want and doesn’t allow mass video content like movie trailers and tv shows.   Vimeo does allow commercial video production companies like Rewatchable to share video content with clients.  However, any business using video to sell or advertise products and services should be careful to read Vimeo’s terms and conditions before adding video to the video hosting site.
