Vimeo Wants To Host Your Video Production
Vimeo is a wonderful video hosting company that has been around for several years. Vimeo.com is the first choice for many video producers due to its reliability, easy-to-use interface and excellent video quality. There’s always been something strange about Vimeo though… Until recently, they did not want to host your video production if you intended to embed your video on a commercial/business website. They were not just concerned about websites trying to make money directly off views of the video. Vimeo simply didn’t want to be used by any business websites. Got a hair salon video production? No! Got a restaurant video production? Too bad! Want to embed a customer testimonial video? Forget about it!
Vimeo was only interested in working with individual users and video producers like Rewatchable. All that changed this month, as Vimeo started offering Vimeo Pro accounts. For the first time, Vimeo wants to host your video productions! Of course, they are charging for the service but the rate is very reasonable. The video hosting service costs only $199 per year and allows a business website up to 250,000 embedded video plays and 50 GB of video storage.

Business Video Made Funny By Microsoft!!??!!??
Microsoft is not really known for their sense of humor. Yet, they have done a nice job of putting together a funny corporate video that mocks Gmail as they try to promote Office 365. Not sure if the video has reached viral video status but one version of it has clocked in with more than 750,000 views on YouTube. The video first appeared at a Microsoft conference in July to rally their sales troops and supposedly has not been approved by Microsoft for public consumption. In fact, if you look closely at the video you will notice it is marked as Unlisted and typical keyword tagging used to promote videos has not been done. Unlisted video can only be seen if linked to or embedded on another website. Unlisted YouTube videos do not show up in Google or YouTube search results.
The sales video features Gmail Man (GmailMan). Gmail Man can’t seem to resist reading personal details of user emails as he serves up contextual advertising. Of course, in the video Gmail Man not only does lots of snooping he also gets the context wrong. The video is pretty funny. The video production company used by Microsoft did a great job of keeping the video funny and fast moving.
Of course, Microsoft doesn’t mention that although Gmail serves up ads their real competitor Google Apps has ads off as the default. One of the benefits of using funny corporate videos is you don’t necessarily need to tell the whole story.
One of the funniest things about the video is that Google themselves is nice enough to host it on their ad-serving video hosting service YouTube.
Corporate Video Productions Will Benefit From Final Cut Pro X New Features

Corporate Video Productions Will Benefit From Final Cut Pro X New Features
Apple finally released their new Final Cut Pro X video editing software this week. The release is a big deal for video editors because the software has been completely rewritten from the ground up. Immediately after the release, many video editing experts started criticizing the video editing software for being limited and nothing more than an enhanced version of iMovie. Early adopters unimpressed by Apple’s Final Cut Pro X. Other tech pundits are calling the new release an upgrade. Apple’s Final Cut Is Dead. Long Live Final Cut.
At Rewatchable, we are very excited about the speed improvements and redesign of the video editing software. The reality is the software may no longer be as great for Hollywood movie makers like the Cohen Brothers. Time will tell if Hollywood studios continue to use FCP but we don’t really care. We don’t think Apple cares much either. Instead of offering a difficult to use video editing software that caters to a small group of people for $1,000, FCPX is much easier to learn and only costs $299. Good video editors will still need thousands of hours of experience. However, someone looking to do basic video editing will be able to be up in running in minutes and still get professional results.
More companies are adding corporate videos to trade shows, websites and their social media strategy mix but some have been slow to come to the party because they are concerned about costs and lost time. Rewatchable has always been committed to helping businesses create professional videos at affordable prices. We always will. We believe there is no better way for a company to tell their story than with video. FCPX takes away much of the complexity of video editing and will inevitably allow more corporate users to be more creative in exploiting video assets they already have. In short, Final Cut Pro X will create a whole new army of corporate video evangelists. As Martha Stewart would say, “that’s a good thing!”

Many businesses are skittish about having a YouTube branded player on their website for their corporate videos. The branded player shouts out two things to prospective customers.
1) We host our videos for free!
2) We host our videos right alongside skateboarding dogs and hilarious weddings!
The reality is YouTube is an incredibly stable and easy place to host business videos. YouTube even provides video analytics to help businesses understand important information about demographics and viewership.
Good news! Last week, YouTube announced a new “logoless” option that is more business video friendly. The new option strips away the YouTube logo from the bottom right corner of the video. Now, businesses can embed video on their website and have a cleaner look without telegraphing the video is hosted on YouTube.
To Remove the YouTube logo, “At the end of the video URL in your embed code, just add the code ?modestbranding=1 and the player will show without the YouTube logo in the control bar.” Note a small YouTube text label will still show above the video when a user hovers over the player.
