Major brands are turning to YouTube in droves to get their marketing videos seen by the biggest video audience on the Internet.    Most of us learned of YouTube soon after the video sharing site was first launched in 2006.  For a time, big businesses were reluctant to be associated with a site known for dogs riding skateboards. After acquiring YouTube, Google made the video hosting site more friendly to big brands like Starbucks, Kodak and Verizon by allowing customizable website-like video channels controllable by the brand owner.
YouTube has become a place for brands to create awareness, control their message, and enhance their social media strategy with larger and larger followings of loyal fans.  Many YouTube channels openly solicit users to follow them on Twitter and Facebook. Americans turned to YouTube 3.8 billion (yup, with a B) times in November 2009 and major brands want to make sure they don’t miss this new video marketing opportunity as network television futures futures seems uncertain.
